So here's the big idea...we at Unit 52 of The Vulcan are holding a fundraiser to build The Vulcan Theater. We have big plans for the space and, with your help, we'd like to get started. So we're gonna kick things off with a monster sized fundraiser that's gonna go all afternoon(starts at 3pm in the afternoon!!!) and into the night with

Gooferman...Sidecar Tommy(Thats Tommy our neighbor of the Yard Dogs and Beats Antique!!!)...Lux(Rodman)...Knowa Knowone...the performance group Lucid Dreamlounge...visuals by Videolicious(that's fellow unit 52 occupant Boris the Russian from the Bassnectar team!!)... bartending by Rock Star Bartenders and many others.Lucid Dreamlounge will be going on at 7pm with their spoken word and circus performances followed by Gooferman at 8pm. This is not a big venue so get here early. This is an effort to build a stronger creative community for all of us so please come out to support the vision.

I'd like to extend a special invitation to my Dustfish family out there and there's no one I'd like to see at this event more than Dustfish and our circus family!! The event kicks off at 3pm in the afternoon and will feature a mariachi band in our courtyard, with Satsisonik following them up with some beats and a silent auction for art and clothing. The afternoon from 3pm until 9pm will be primarily directed towards our Dustfish and Circus community and will feature delicious food and tasty beverages with a special show from Boenobo and Uncle Funky of Gooferman.

Just making sure you all know that GlobalRuckus is re-invading San Francisco starting Thursday night.
Thursday night - Elbo Room - Afrolicious - Afro-latin set. Opening the night at 9pm.
Friday night - Amnesia Bar - Baxtalo Drom - This show is going to be spectacular. Aside from the amazing cabaret performances, I'll be playing a fiery Balkan set and you'll also have the awesome and amazing Portland based Russian party band Chervona performing as well. This band is a fast rising star and it may be your last chance to catch them in such an intimate setting. A night not to be missed!
Friday night late - DNA Lounge - Bohemian Carnival - Thrilled to be part of this stellar line-up. Will be playing late, starting around 2-3am.....
Saturday night - Mission Rock Cafe - Burnal Equinox - What a night this is going to be.

So...my ride came and woke me up Sunday morning and dragged me away before I had a chance to ensure that I had gather all of my stuff. I'm missing my really great sprayer thingie, it's a small white plastic tank with a spray hose on it. It also has little shiny bug stickers on it, and my name on the bottom...either Jessica or Lady J. My tent was over by Ty's & Lord's tent that was inside where we had the kitchen area, but who knows where it ended up. If you took it home with you *thanks* and I'm sorry you had to pick up my shit. Also, I would really love to have it back. Lemme know.

so great to burn wit you this year!!!! .ann also taking part of my first official booty check point! woot!

Finding out you didn't have a soundsystem this year, and not wanting to break my Sunday night trans-global DJing tradition, I've made arrangements with my camp to take over the Mobile Groove Bomb, just out in front of our camp (across the horseshoe from you guys at 3:40/Esplanada) and put together a stellar line-up of global sounds including Joro Boro (Mehanata/NYC), Filastine (Barcelona, global sound pirate), Manoj (Portland master of grooves) and myself....
So you are all invited. Do you party on Wednesday and come out for a special treat with the Bomb Squad. Sunday night, within an hour after the temple burn.

DUSTFISH 2008 (some details?)

sorry for the delay on this.
in case you haven't heard.....
this year DUSTFISH is 150' off the Esplanade at 9:30 & Allante. (near the ice)
this was a compromise for the folks who wanted on Esplanade and those who wanted off.
we'll be fronting Allante, the first street off Esplanade.
basically, we're kinda taking the year off to fuck off and have fun.
DIVA BOOT CAMP will again be our neighbors!
no big stage, or sound system, etc. or the costs and work associated with all that.
because of that, there's NO CAMP FEES! (except for the usual hootch and mix donations for the bar) think vodka, whiskey, tequila....

we're planning a larger more lux bar with lots of shade and lounging space.
bring pillows, carpets, etc. if you can. decorations...oh, and bullhorns for BOOTIECHECKPOINT #11!
we're planning to have a small generator to power lights and boombox for the bar, so if you
have a gas can, please fill it and bring some gas for the bar too.

the lot is a little smaller than usual (100'x250'), and space is first come/first served.
so if you're coming, now is the time to speak up!

please educate and take care of your newbies!

Warehouse in SoMa apparenty available

So people ask me all the time to always be on the lookout for the rare opportunity when a "warehouse" space becomes available in SoMa.

Well, low and behold, I was walking the dogs around the corner, and there IS one available near the corner of 9th and Clementina.

So if you know anyone looking for a one-story multi-purpose space, please let them know to walk on by and get the contact info off the poster on the front of the building. It's through some Tri-Blabla real estate...........they control most of the commercial rentals in this part of town.........

It' s a really cool brick building..........and when the doors have been open, it looks like a really wide open floor plan.............no idea if it's affordable or not.

The first part of the evening will showcase several short videos featuring local artists and designers filmed and produced by AMMO SF. AMMO is a local video production company founded by Mouse, Satsi, Ty Bourne, and Diallo McLinn. The videos to be shown include:

"Trashion" a mixture of three fashion shows done for Burning Man using trash and recycled material.

"Hot Couture Fire and Fashion" at the Crucible's 9th anniversary bash.

"Savant Garde" at 111 Minna, hosted by del Geronimo of Fashion Replant Magazine.

"Second Skin" is the current show at The Exploratorium. This premiere from the opening night includes the runway show and a special performance by Bad Unkle Sista.

There will also be premieres featuring many local designers and artists including:
miss velvet cream Domini
Bad Unkle Sista Nika Tang
Erza Li Eismont Kayo

The second part of the evening will debut the video,

THE MIGHTY P.H.E.Y (Pleasure Hogs Enjoying You).

Filmed and edited by NoNo the Naughty Naked Ape, it shows the creation and execution of a 112 foot long, double headed penis float used in the SFGay Pride Parade in 2002 which won the "ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS OUTRAGEOUS" award for that year.

PHEY became DUSTFISH.

We'll be doing live silkscreen printing of our DUSTFISH images.
Bring clothing or fabric to print on.

For those who have joined us recently, DUSTFISH began long ago, in a faraway land, and it was called P.H.E.Y (Pleasure Hogs Enjoying You!)
PHEY built a huge 'cockfloat' for the SFGAY PARADE in 2000. It shot balloons and smoke out the tip and had a 12 foot pussy on the back of it (with a lovely naked Karima riding between the lips). The dj turntables were mounted on the balls. We won the FABULOUSLY OUTRAGEOUS prize that year. We went back in 2002 with a doubleheaded, 112 foot long cock, with confetti cannons in both heads and again won the ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS OUTRAGEOUS prize.
This MIGHTY PHEY movie chronicles the construction, practice (it took 17 people inside the cock to move it down the street and to fire the cannons), and some of the parade. It's kinda fun to watch. You'll see much younger DUSTFISH hard at work and play, as usual.

Filmed and edited by NoNo The Naughty Naked Ape in 1999, this is Not Your Usual Burningman Documentary. It chronicles what can happen when a few crazy people show up on the desert with a bunch of useless shwag, a bullhorn, and an intense desire to witness people "Free Your Booty!"

1999 was the first time this group of people appeared on the desert together and this film gives an upclose view of how the camp began, and then, blossomed into the notorious DUSTFISH.

Approximate running time is 60 minutes.

(Probably not suitable viewing for younger children)

Esther and I are getting ready to plan a trip to Reno in the next couple weeks to clean out the Dustfish storage, and retrieve that which was left behind after the last burn. The storage unit is chalked full of personal stuff, ice chests, tons of shit that we know belongs to somebody, all our scaffolding, lighting, bar top etc.... and a shit ton of dust. The plan is to drive in, get a hotel for a couple nights, pack and clean the next day, head back to the hotel, then driving to SF storage the third day. Please don't make us do this ourselves :) The date is flexible, and ideally somebody with a passenger car would take three extra people, we could bust it out pretty easy and start a riot in Reno while we're at it. Any takers??

When I first mentioned that I was camping with DUSTFISH, I got quite a reaction from some staffers at BM headquarters. Now, those same people have come to rely on several members of the camp for all kind of things. In fact, I often get, "Blondie, can you contact DUSTFISH to see if anyone can ......."

The DUSTFISH DJ's totally ROCKED Burnal Equinox all night on March 8th at Whisper. In fact, all of our DJ's showed and were on time. And they ROCKED. YAY !!! Aeion and Ty were requested for stage managing again for last night's Bunny Jam. From the creation and management of fashion shows at Pre-Compression, Center Camp on the playa and Decompression, to the Master of Ceremonies, the DJ's, stage managers and the live musicians, DUSTFISH has been an essential and vital resource of individuals called upon for Special Events and other local Burning Man functions, as well as the playa.

Yet, it stays raunchy. You gotta love this camp. I am certainly proud, as I was from the beginning, to be a member of DUSTFISH.

Hello fellow Dusty Fish organizers.

The Rue Morgue and Temple of Community would like to offer you a challenge of a different ilk. Some of your crew is already on this project but we'd like to see a represented piece from your camp.

When we found out that Best wasn't doing a temple this year we started to embark on creating one for the community that each camp could be part of.

We are building a 20 - 30 foot origami crane from wood to burn. It will a place of mourning, deep thought and release. To say goodbye to loved ones that have left this world.

We are asking various camps to build their own 5 foot version that can be placed next to the main structure in a circle to show that no mater how different we are together we are a community.

We will be happy to send you scaled down drawings but in the end its your art piece and we'd like you to make it yours. Use the skeleton as a base.

Hey everyone, as you might know, E-star and myself are off to visit foreign places, and will be gone until late February. So , lets plan a big earth shaking kind of meeting for late Feb. early March to discuss some important things. Could somebody do the logistics for this please?? It's time to take a good look at yourself, say damn he/she/both is/are fucking hot and figure out where we want Dustfish to go. Need a good idea? Talk to Lord, because he's chalked full of em.

I'm kinda leaning towards the "Dustfish across America" road trip idea for next summer... mmmmmmm. Dustfish school bus. How ridiculously hippy would that be.

So get those mental fires stoked, and when we get back we figure out if we should sell our shit, or start making money to store it.

Scatha will be building a fashion art installation. Monica will be selling fabulous jewelry and Sekani will be providing massage. Steve23 & Juicy are donating yoga passes. Wes will be running security. And of course the Dustfish bartenders will be the masters of mixology.

Should any of you be so tempted, my big 4 0 is happing this March 4th (a Tuesday). Why am I telling you now? Because I'm up in Portland and want to give people plenty of notice.
I'm not sure why the gods have foresaken me with a birthday of such magnitude on a Tuesday, but that's the hand I'm dealt.
However, the gods have also blessed with me with quite possibly the best marching band in the whole world, March Fourth Marching Band (a date, a command, a band) who named themselves after the day they were formed, which also happens to be my birthday. In honor of this fabulous birthday, they actually are doing a whole series of shows, leading up to that big day. Matinee and evening shows on March 2nd, evening shows on March 3rd, and March 4th. In particular, it's the March3rd show, that I'm overly thrilled about as it will also feature one of my favorite world party music bands of all time, Balkan Beat Box in their first Northwest appearance.
Likely the weekend before will involve at least one ski outing.
Anyway, I know it's school nights, but just thought you Dustfishies should know, should you be inclined to head north for such a momentuous occasion.

I recently suffered an injury to my ear that left me 90% deaf in my right ear for over a week. It was one of the most frightening and frustrating experiences of my life. I thought I might never hear music the same. Fortunately, my hearing has been fully restored with no permanent damage at all. And to celebrate, I would like you all to come out and enjoy the truly amazing ability to hear the musical stylings of a couple of dustfish bass-slangers, NoMe and Me. Just droppin’ in to let you know of a few art/dance-party events
I’m involved in in the next couple weeks.

First, this Friday 26th, I will be djing at Anon Salon in the back room alongside my good buddie and ass kickin’ dj Shrimp.
If you haven’t been to Anon Salon, please treat yourself!

Next is an art show at Gallery 1988 in which all the artworks
will be done on paper.
This is a huge group-show and it opens on Tues, Oct. 30th.
I think most works will be a bit more affordable so this is
a great chance to get some early Holiday gifts.
I mean, what can beat something hand-made and one-of-a-kind
for the ones you love!

And last but not least, I will have some paintings in a five-person group show at 111 Minna, which opens on Nov. 1st.
I will have some new works there and one larger piece that’s taken my mind almost a year to develop.

art will be up for 3 weeks/month, so you have a bit of time to
have the adventure….

Hello(ween) everyone!

Just droppin’ in to let you know of a few art/dance-party events
I’m involved in in the next couple weeks.

First, this Friday 26th, I will be djing at Anon Salon in the back room alongside my good buddie and ass kickin’ dj Shrimp.
If you haven’t been to Anon Salon, please treat yourself!

Next is an art show at Gallery 1988 in which all the artworks
will be done on paper.
This is a huge group-show and it opens on Tues, Oct. 30th.
I think most works will be a bit more affordable so this is
a great chance to get some early Holiday gifts.
I mean, what can beat something hand-made and one-of-a-kind
for the ones you love!

And last but not least, I will have some paintings in a five-person group show at 111 Minna, which opens on Nov. 1st.
I will have some new works there and one larger piece that’s taken my mind almost a year to develop.

All the info is below. If you can’t make it to the openings, the
art will be up for 3 weeks/month, so you have a bit of time to
have the adventure….

Decompression '07

We as dustfish have a theme camp space and are near the 21st street stage near EverWOW. We are next to Rico's Dirty Fishing Hole and i figure we can do a chill space with blinky lites and the dustfish signage. Also we can augment the fishing hole with BOOTY CHECKPOINT#11. Needs: Bullhorns, truck, chill dome action, lights, power strips, extension cords, fabric, signage, poloroids?, ipod and mini speakers, chairs/couch, mattress and rugs... the dimensions are 10x25.

Any other ideas? No big sound allowed(phew!).

Also, Scatha and I along with Aeion and any and all dustfish are producing the Decompression Trashion Fashion Show at sunset(6:15pm) on the 21st street stage with some kick ass designers! Yay!

BaconFest 07 -- 10/6 at Diva & Steve's house.

Otto & I are collaborating on Otto Von Danger's Annual BaconFest, Saturday night at my house. Starts at 5. It's a potluck and everything must include bacon. Even drinks. Maybe not drinks --except the bacon bloody mary's.

This is going to be a largely DPW and other crack-ass weirdo burner bacon fans type crowd. I highly encourage my posse to show up en masse. It's bacon, and it's definitely pure trash --so it sounds like a Dustfish affair to me.

Joegh Bullock has asked for any a-roused Dustfish to help out with decor and accompaniment/camaraderie for the Love Bus this year at Love Fest.

In his own words:

"lets get ready for love fest. we will be wanting all dustfish folks
interested in float decor and marching along with us?
we will do decor at the old amoury from 10am til 10pm friday the 28th
we will be the first float in the parade and be cirk o love. all
marchers should arrive by 11:30 am at 2nd and mission and be in full
fashionable clown attire, stilts and all. This is a 5 ring circus!"

Freeform this Friday 9/28, we are bringing CODA headliner Jason Knight to start the Love Parade weekend off correct with his infectious style of progressive house and trance. Residents Iyad, Floorcraft, & Jonboy will be also be playing extra euphoric sets to keep in step with the Love-y atmosphere of the weekend.
